I created a kubuntu install stick with Universal USB Installer 1.9.2.1 all went well Win 8 This happened to mewhile using a USB SD card reader. Not sure if this helps but maybe it mught jog someones mind for an answer.
Don't mind junking it but I hate when I can't figure things out. "Is there a way to change the current read-only state?"Ĭalled PNY no help never returned my call. This is the question I would like to know. Is there a way to change the current read-only state? So the read-only state is yes, but read-only is set to No. Can not change any files on flash drive or deleteĬurrent Read-only State : Yes This should change but does not Can copy all files off the disk and no virues of spyware copied. McAfee and PCTool Spyware Doc take forever to run. HDD LLF Low Level Format Tool gives readonly errors on all files. Pny lowlevel format can't run on window 7, windows XP HKEY_Local_Machine/system/CurrentControlSet/Control/StorageDevicePolicieĪnd go to right side and click on writeprotect and change the value to 1 if u have 0 or if u have 0 then change value to 1.įormating with apacer Repair v2.9.1.1 I get (USB Flash Drive Not Found) I have a pny Metal Attaché with the same issue as above but I do not have awrite protection switch, oh to be so simple I remember the good old floppy disks.Īs above I have found this in several places on the web along with many others like setting I don't know if Satish is still following this post but if he is.
Someone said they took the disk offline and then back online and that cleared the read-only state, but when I tried to take it offline, I get a virtual disk service error: "The operation is not supported on removble media." How do I change the state? How do I prevent this from happening again? So I guess the Read-Only attribute was cleared, but it is still in a read-only state. When I use DISKPART to list the attributes for this disk, it says:
Set permissions to full control for this disk, I have used DISKPART to Clear the readonly Attribute, then rebooted but nothing has worked. So far I have added: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies registry key and the DWORD WriteProtect with a value of 0 and rebooted. I've read all the other similar questions and tried what they said. Did this happen with bitlocker? I did not knowingly runīitlocker, and when I type it in the serch bar it doesn't find it, so my version may not even have bitlocker? I have a PNY 16 GB USB drive that is now useless because it has somehow become "read only".
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit on an Intel HP Pavilion dv6.
